PurposeThrough this Policy and related procedures, KCTCS seeks to promote the safety and security of employees, students, stakeholders, campuses and operating locations through programs and practices that discourage domestic violence, promote campus safety, and provide support for the needs of KCTCS employees victimized by domestic violence. 2. ScopeThis Policy applies to all KCTCS employees, students, stakeholders, campuses and operating locations without regard to any Protected Class outlined in 3.3.1. Anti-Harassment/Discrimination Policy. 3. PolicyActs of domestic violence by or against KCTCS employees and students can endanger the KCTCS working and learning environments, create safety and security risks, increase costs, undermine KCTCS’ image and reputation, and erode public faith and confidence in KCTCS. To prevent or mitigate these negative effects and to protect the safety of affected employees, students, and others within its learning and working environments, KCTCS shall take reasonable measures to discourage and prevent domestic violence among and against its employees, students, and stakeholders. When practical and possible, KCTCS shall provide reasonable support and assistance to KCTCS employees, students, and stakeholders within its sphere of influence who have been victimized directly or indirectly by physical and/or psychological abuse, including but not limited to sexual misconduct and threats thereof perpetrated by intimate partners, spouses, or other current or previous domestic relatives (domestic violence). KCTCS may provide reasonable tools and processes to promote employee and student success and to prevent lost productivity, increased health care costs, increased absenteeism, and unnecessary employee turnover. 4. ProcedureAdministrative Procedure 3.3.26-P implements this policy. |
