Veteran: A person who served in the United States (U.S.) military, including any time on active duty, training time, active reserve, or National Guard. Veteran Family: Any parents, siblings, children, spouses, extended family, foster family, or life partner of a veteran. |
Veterans and their families shall have access to all entitled benefits and treatment options within DMH in addition to appropriate Veteran's Administration benefits. Veterans and their families shall not be denied mental health services based on their ability to obtain services through the Veterans Health Care Administration or veteran organizations. If a veteran has no established benefits in place: - The ability to pay for services shall not delay the veteran or the veteran's family member from receiving services.
- Payment shall be deferred to applicable funding.
- Workforce members shall seek consultation from or refer veterans to DMH Veteran Peer Access Network (VPAN) to determine eligibility for Veterans Administration benefits, including Federal and State Veterans Benefits.
Standards for screening, treating, referring, and providing direct linkage for veterans to appropriate services shall be in accordance with policies and procedures for all clients and, based on need, shall include: Veterans shall be provided treatment verification letters in accordance with DMH Policy 300.03. |
