I.  PURPOSE
 
This policy provides the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health (DMH) with standards and procedures to screen, approve, and coordinate the escorted transportation of clients to clinical destinations outside of Los Angeles County.

This policy shall not be used when considering the transport of clients by ambulance or other means within Los Angeles County.

 
II.  DEFINITION

III.  POLICY
 
DMH shall permit transportation of mental health clients (voluntary or involuntary) to clinical facilities or to responsible
family-supported destinations outside of Los Angeles County when the client meets
 eligibility requirements.

DMH shall provide staff transportation escorts who meet the specified requirements.
