  Policy 352.15 Patient's Own Medications
 
  PROCEDURES
  1. DMH clinic nurses or psychiatric technicians shall check the existing stock of a patient's own medications against the upcoming week's injection appointment calendar and proactively order refills of long-acting injectables for clients who have an active order for their medications.
  2. When presented with the delivery of a patient’s own medications from retail pharmacies, DMH clinic nurse(s) or psychiatric technician(s) shall check the existing stock of a patient's own medications and reject any doses in excess of the quantity stated in the policy section to prevent overstock by not signing the prescription receipt for rejected doses.
  3. Clinics shall log the receipt of all patient’s own medications. The log shall contain the following information:
  • Patient’s name
  • Medication name
  • Medication Strength
  • Medication Quantity
  • Date ordered (date prescription was ordered by prescriber)
  • Date received from pharmacy
  • Prescription number
  • Name of issuing pharmacy
