- To implement consistent time guidelines and improve access to care.
- To reduce variability between clinics.
- To propose Standard Time Parameters to include time spent on dedicated patient care and documentation.
- Continuing Medical Education (CME) Requirements
- Activities related to CME include:
- Home study:
- Study for Board Exams
- Board Re-Certification study or collecting CME requirements
- Reading journals, educational materials, self-paced study
- Enhancing medical skills through research, reading, videos
- Other types of self-paced study
- Attending CME conference, workshops, trainings
- All CME activities must be pre-approved by a supervisor:
- Conversation with supervisor for the on-going education expectations for time management when not seeing patients to be dedicated to education endeavors.
- Approvals for any periods over 1 hour dedicated to CME
- Timecard notation of time periods over 1 hour dedicated to CME activities
- Encouragement to provide a summary of home study activities to colleagues:
- Topic covered
- Explanation of how study contributes to work
- Whether to include home study/CME activities in Performance Evaluation
