I.  POLICY STATEMENTS
 
This policy establishes procedures for the return of County property and removal or modification of system access for a Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health (DMH/Department) workforce member who transfers within the Department or interdepartmentally to another County Department, leaves, or terminates from Los Angeles County employment (no longer works for DMH).

To safeguard protected health information (PHI) and personal identifiable information (PII) when a DMH workforce member transfers within the Department or interdepartmentally to another County department, leaves, or is terminated from Los Angeles County employment (no longer works for DMH).

Contracted agencies shall develop an internal policy and associated procedures that are consistent with their organizational practices and meet the requirements set forth in this policy.

DMH must ensure all issued County property is returned to the appropriate DMH bureau/division/program custodian once a DMH workforce member’s employment is terminated or during an interdepartmental or intradepartmental transfer.

DMH must ensure all systems’ access and privileges granted to a DMH workforce member is modified or removed at the time of the workforce member’s employment termination or an interdepartmental or intradepartmental transfer.

Non-DMH liaisons must ensure their organization’s workforce members always have minimal access to DMH resources required for performing their duties .
