I.  PURPOSE
 
Establishes procedures in the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health (DMH) for the safe storage of blank prescription pads at directly operated facilities.
 
II.  DEFINITIONS
 
There are no definitions associated with this policy.
 
III.  POLICY
 
The supervising psychiatrist/designee at each directly operated facility shall store and secure general blank prescription pads (both regular and California Security Forms) to prevent loss, theft, and unauthorized use.

Each individual prescriber shall store and secure all prescriber-specific prescription pads.
