  POLICY 307.02 Lanterman-Petris-Short Detention
 
  PROCEDURES
  1. Programs eligible as approved sites to initiate assessments for involuntary detention include, but are not limited to:
     
    1. Outpatient programs with emergency assessment capacity;
    2. Full Service Partnership (FSP) programs;
    3. Urgent Care Centers (UCCs);
    4. Mental health field response teams; and
    5. Psychiatric Health Facilities (PHFs).
       
  2. Programs shall seek and obtain specific approval from the DMH Director to become a site authorized to employ staff eligible to initiate an application for involuntary detention. 
     
  3. All Lanterman-Petris-Short (LPS) approved programs shall maintain the capacity to perform this function.
     
  4. All LPS approved programs shall have staff available to assess any individual in need during the program's normal hours of operation.
     
  5. All LPS approved programs shall conduct LPS evaluations consistent with California WIC Sections 5150 and 5585.
