I. PURPOSE
This policy outlines the procedure regarding access and nursing and psychiatric technician responsibilities for the use of an automated medication dispensing machine (Pyxis SystemTM).
II. DEFINITION
Authorized Personnel: Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, nurses, psychiatric technicians, pharmacists, and pharmacy technicians who are specifically authorized by DMH Pharmacy Services to gain access to Pyxis SystemTM
III. POLICY
LACDMH utilizes an automated medication delivery system in some patient care areas. This system allows for accurate dispensing, accessing, and tracking of medications.
