In the case of national emergency, all persons will be notified at the same time through the use of civil defense sirens and radio or other communication system. Each building needs to develop its own civil defense plan, depending on whether it is designated as a civil defense shelter and the number of children who depend on bus transportation.
The plan should be based on the following assumptions:
- That all children who are able to go home or to assigned places will be dismissed immediately.
- Students will not be placed on school buses but will be kept in school under the supervision of faculty members designated by the building principal until such time as an all-clear signal is sounded or parents are able to pick up their children
- Those buildings with shelters should have a plan on file for staffing them.
- Civil defense drills are not to be held except upon notification from the District office.
