All employees shall behave with civility, fairness, professionalism and respect in dealing with fellow employees, students, parents, patrons, visitors and anyone else having business with the District. Uncivil behaviors are prohibited.

Uncivil behaviors are defined as, but not limited to, any conduct that is physically or verbally threatening, either overtly or implicitly, as well as behaviors that are coercive, inappropriate, intimidating, violent or harassing. Uncivil behaviors include conduct that is rude, discourteous and displays a lack of respect for others. Such interactions could occur in telephone conversations, voice mail messages, face-to-face conversations, written and electronic communications, including email messages and/or social media.

Any uncivil behavior should be reported to the immediate supervisor or to the appropriate Human Resources Supervisor. Employees may be subject to disciplinary action under building and/or District policy or guidelines up to and including termination of employment. Retaliation against a person who reports a claim of uncivil behavior is prohibited.
