School Counseling Services for Gifted Program

  1. School counseling staff may provide services to:
    • Students in the gifted program
    • Students with high ability and low achievement
    • Parents/guardians of students in the program
    • Staff members who work with students in the program
  2. The services to be provided may be adapted to be consistent with the needs and learning characteristics of students in the gifted program and will focus on:
    • Academic and educational planning
    • Career planning
    • Personal-social growth
  3. School counseling staff may deliver services related to these three areas of emphasis by:
    • Counseling with individual students and groups of students in the gifted program
    • Communicating with parents/guardians of students in the gifted program in group or individual sessions
    • Consulting with staff members
    • Providing, in cooperation with principals and gifted program facilitators, workshops for staff and for parents/guardians of students in the gifted program
