School Counseling Services for Gifted Program

- School counseling staff may provide services to:
- Students in the gifted program
- Students with high ability and low achievement
- Parents/guardians of students in the program
- Staff members who work with students in the program
- The services to be provided may be adapted to be consistent with the needs and learning characteristics of students in the gifted program and will focus on:
- Academic and educational planning
- Career planning
- Personal-social growth
- School counseling staff may deliver services related to these three areas of emphasis by:
- Counseling with individual students and groups of students in the gifted program
- Communicating with parents/guardians of students in the gifted program in group or individual sessions
- Consulting with staff members
- Providing, in cooperation with principals and gifted program facilitators, workshops for staff and for parents/guardians of students in the gifted program
