College administration, faculty, staff and employees should be aware of and comply with the College’s procedures regarding the release of confidential student information. See the FERPA Policy for more details. College administration, faculty, staff and employees shall not:
 
a.  Use e-mail and/or web access to exchange messages or view files that co-workers may consider threatening, libelous, obscene, harassing, racist, pornographic, sexist or abusive;
 
b.  Use e-mail and/or web access to solicit, proselytize, promote, or engage in any non-job related cause;
 
c.  Send messages using someone else’s name; or
 
d.  Read mail or files without the owner’s permission.
 
College administration, faculty, staff and employees should be aware that deleting e-mail material does not remove it from the system. In addition, all e-mail messages sent and received on the College’s system are College records. The contents of the e-mail may be disclosed without consent. Therefore, employees are not to assume that personal messages are private or confidential. The College has the right to access and disclose all messages sent over its email system(s). Since the College can access employees’ personal messages without prior notice or consent, the College’s e-mail system should not be used to transmit any messages employees do not want read by the College. Misuse of the e-mail system will not be tolerated and may result in corrective action up to and including termination of employment.
