Rules of Decorum for All Sexual Harassment Resolution Process Participants
  1. Be on time.
  2. Language and behavior must be civil, respectful, and courteous.
    1. Remain quiet while another person is talking. Speak in turn.
    2. Remain seated throughout the process unless permitted otherwise by the Hearing Chair or College meeting organizer.
    3. Anger, rudeness, ridicule, obscene or profane language, and lack of respect for others and personal attacks are unacceptable behavior.
    4. Acting or speaking in a way that may be perceived as bullying, abusive, discriminatory or derogatory will not be tolerated.
  3. Practice cell phone and laptop etiquette by proactively eliminating or minimizing the distractions that could be created by use of these devices. 
  4. The College may record the hearing and other parts of the resolution process; all other participants are prohibited from recording any part of the process.
  5. All remarks and questions that are unrelated to questioning a party or witness shall be addressed through the Hearing Chair.
  6. Non-emergency breaks may only be taken after a question posed to a witness has been answered.
  7. Do not bring guests to the hearing or other parts of the resolution process. Only those approved to be in the hearing or meeting may be present.
The consequences of failure to follow the rules of decorum will be as follows
  1. One warning (maximum). If behavior is egregious, immediate removal may occur. 
  2. Removal from the hearing or meeting. The hearing or meeting may continue without the person present. If the person removed from the hearing is an advisor, another advisor will be assigned to the party for the purposes of cross-examination.
  3. Any participant who does not comply with hearing decorum may only return to any future meetings if they agree to abide by the rules and receive approval from the Hearing Chair or College official meeting organizer.
