Employees are eligible to join a group health insurance program during the first 31 days of employment with UAB. Those not joining during the first 31 days will be allowed to join only during an annual open enrollment period which will be announced by UAB or within 31 days of a qualifying life event. Qualifying life events include, but are not limited to, marriage, birth of a child, adoption, or involuntary loss of coverage.
