Memberships The only local civic organizations (that is, those based in Birmingham or Alabama) in which UAB will maintain institutional memberships are as follows:
Membership in these local civic organizations will be in the form of institutional memberships covering the entire University and all its departments, including the Hospital, the Schools, Central Administration, and the Auxiliary Services. Individual departments in the School of Medicine which wish to belong to the Birmingham Chamber of Commerce as it relates to their clinical practices may do so if non-University funds are used to pay for the memberships. Payments The amounts of the annual payments made by, and on behalf of, UAB for these local civic institutional memberships are set by the UAB Executive Committee and currently are at the following levels:
While it is recognized that other governing bodies or boards have the final authority over payments from "Non-University Funds," the above guidelines reflect the official position of the University as to the amounts that should be paid. Changes in the amounts and sources of funds of these memberships may be made only by the President upon recommendation of the UAB Executive Committee. Applicability to Other Types of Institutional Memberships Institutional memberships in professional organizations (the cost of which is set by the organization, not by UAB) are not covered by this policy and will continue to be handled using procedures appropriate to the approval and payment of such memberships. | ||||||||||||
