The following are general regulations for the Hill Student Center.

1. The removal of plastic trays from the Blazer Café is prohibited.

2. Approval for distributing, selling, canvassing, and promoting materials or goods must be consistent with UAB solicitation policies (see especially the UAB Solicitation Protection Policy and Student Affairs Policy SA VII-018).

3. Animals will not be permitted in the building at any time except for Licensed Guide Dogs.

4. UAB will not be responsible for any article lost in the building.

5. Card playing shall be confined to the Fourth Floor Student Lounge and is prohibited in all other public areas (lounges, lobbies, reception areas, etc.) of the Hill Student Center.

6. Gambling in any form in the Hill Student Center is prohibited.

7. The possession or consumption of alcohol in public areas of the Hill Student Center is prohibited. (See also UAB-wide and Student Affairs consumption and use of alcoholic beverages policies.)

8. Illegal drugs are not permitted on the Hill Student Center premises at any time.

9. Only authorized employees will be permitted behind the Information Center counter.

10. All painting, spraying, or construction of decorations or poster by UAB-related groups must be carried out in designated areas only and according to policies in the Student Life section of this manual. Non-UAB-       related entities may not use any area of the Center for these activities.

11. The Hill Student Center “Lost and Found” is maintained at the Information Center on the First Floor. There also is a UAB Lost and Found maintained by the UAB Police Department.

12. Telephones behind the Information Center may be used by Hill Student Center Operations staff only. There is a courtesy phone for on-campus calls available at the Information Center.

13. Equipment and furnishings within the Hill Student Center multi-purpose and lounge areas may not be removed from the building or from assigned areas except upon written permission of the Director of HSC Operations.

14. Any construction in the Hill Student Center must be reviewed by the Assistant Vice President/Student Facilities and Finance.

15. The use of amplified sound inside the Hill Student Center is prohibited unless the activity is registered and has received prior written approval from the Director of Hill Student Center Operations. (This includes personal radios, tape players, etc.) The use of amplified sound outside the Hill Student Center is permitted upon approval of the activity by the Director of Hill Student Center Operations.

16. Bicycles and motor vehicles must park in designated areas outside the building and are prohibited in the building. Rollerblades are also prohibited on the plaza and in the building.

17. The building public address system is used for background music and special announcements of programs and activities sponsored by UAB-affiliated organizations. Non-UAB entities may not use the public address system.

18. Youths (persons generally under 16 years of age) without the supervision of a UAB student, faculty, staff person, parent, guardian, or counselor shall not be permitted to use Hill Student Center facilities.
 

All persons within the Hill Student Center are subject to having their identification checked by Hill Student Center Operations staff or UAB Police Officers.
