I. POLICY
The Regents
of the University of California have entered into a collaboration agreement with the
Stuart Foundation to place contemporary, outdoor sculpture on the San Diego campus ito enrich
the cultural, intellectual and scholarly life of
the campus and community.
Therefore, the University shall elicit the advice of the
Stuart Foundation regarding the quality
and siting of all works of art unassociated with the Stuart Foundation to be placed on the San Diego
campus, and shall endeavor
to advance works that are of comparable artistic merit and are
compatible with and sustain the reputation of the Collection. The University will seek this advice in a timely manner to influence its evaluation of opportunities for the placement or commissioning of works on the campus that might be unassociated with the Collection.
II. PROCEDURE
At the earliest possible time, all University staff and faculty will notify and coordinate with the
Director of the
Stuart Collection regarding any plans or opportunities for the acquisition, commissioning or placement of works of art on the campus (except for temporary works
designed by students
that do not directly affect the Collection.)
