Full time employees are to be given two 15-minute rest periods during the regular work day. Part-time employees who are scheduled to work at least four hours are to receive one 15-minute rest period. Ordinarily, employees who work from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. should take their first rest period between 9:00 and 11:00 a.m. and the second rest period between 2:00 and 4:00 p.m. Employees who work other shifts should be given rest periods in the same manner. Rest periods cannot be accumulated to be taken at a later time and cannot be used to shorten the regular work day. Unusual work problems may temporarily restrict use of rest periods. Supervisors should resolve these problems as soon as possible so that such restrictions are kept to a minimum.
