3.12 Development and Ownership of Digital Media and Software

UAB recognizes the importance of obtaining the greatest public benefit from its scientific research, inventiveness, and creativity. The widespread use of the electronic, digital, computer, and related technologies as a tool for teaching, research, service, or administration has led to new types of intellectual property (IP) related to the development of software, databases, media, or other creative works. All such IP are encompassed within, and governed by, the University IP policies described in Sections 3.9 and 3.10.
